Focus

Author: Leading and Love

The word focus is both a verb and a noun. As a verb it means to concentrate. As a noun it means direction. Since verbs and nouns go together, an expression for focus is "to concentrate on a direction".

Where you want to go is like a treasure hunt. You have the map and X marks the spot. One part of the journey is by sea and the rest is over rugged terrain.

Idea #1

Chart your course. Decide where you want to go. Find the single best route possible. Determine who is going to go with you and what you need to bring to make the journey successful.

Idea #2

Stay your course. Ideally, the course you charted will remain static. If what we know about life remains true, the course will wind up being chock full of a lot of stuff that we would rather avoid. The bumps and bruises won't be part of the ultimate reward, but they add value to the goal, test you mettle, and make for good storytelling.

Quote #1

"If you focus on what you don't want, then that's where you'll keep steering your ship." - Clare Josa

Quote #2

"Without goals, you will end up going nowhere, or, you will end up following someone else's map! Develop your map today - set your goals and focus!" - Catherine Pulsifer

Quote #3

"Where focus goes, energy flows." - Tony Robbins

Challenge

Add “no” to your lexicon and practice saying no to things that are inconsequential to your goals.
