From pressure to treasure to pleasure

Author: Leading and Love

Going from pressure to treasure to pleasure is a journey. For some it’s a timely journey, for others it could be a lifelong quest. Forfeiting pressure and spending more time in treasure and pleasure is easily desirable but the complete transitioning brings appreciation in all three stages.

Pressure => the commitment and contribution required to develop a certain skill/attribute.

  • A lot of failure happens here.

  • Success unfolds in small chunks and continues to compound.

Treasure => the skill/attribute you possess.

Pleasure => the benefit yielded from your skill/attribute.

Idea #1

More pressure leads to bigger treasure.

Idea #2

Bigger treasure leads to longer lasting pleasure.

Quote #1

“Hard work compounds like interest, and the earlier you do it, the more time you have for the benefits to pay off.” -Sam Altman

Quote #2

“I have learned that success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has had to overcome while trying to succeed.” -Booker T. Washington

Quote #3

“Hard work is a prison sentence only if it does not have meaning. Once it does, it becomes the kind of thing that makes you grab your wife around the waist and dance a jig.” -Malcolm Gladwell
