Motivation

Author: Leading and Love

Motivation is often perceived as a reason to do something. The reason a person wakes up at 5am every morning to go to the gym. The reason a husband sets aside time to plan their wedding anniversary celebration. The reason a teacher gives each student in her class the attention the student needs to perform well in the course. These can be chalked up to being motivated. Motivation is what gets us going and keeps us going and when we don’t feel like going any further, we become unmotivated.

Idea #1

Motivation is an input and an output. When you are motivated to do something, and you do it, regardless of the outcome, you are ready to take the subsequent step.

Idea #2

Motivation is mental. When fear is greater than faith, anything you want to do will be shut down at any sign of trouble. When faith exceeds fear, a sign of trouble is an opportunity for discovery and growth.

Quote #1

“Things work out best for those who make the best of how things work out.” -John Wooden

Quote #2

"Success is walking from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm." -Winston Churchill

Quote #3

"Opportunities don't happen, you create them." -Chris Grosser

Challenge

If there is something you want to do and you feel as though you are lacking motivation, take stock of your fears.

Affirmation

I will not be overrun by fear and I am capable of accomplishing what I set out to do.
