Self-Improvement

Author: Leading and Love

Investing time to make yourself better also positively impacts the people around you, especially those closest to you - your spouse, your children, family, and close friends. The definition of self-improvement is the improvement of one's knowledge, status, or character by one's own efforts: When we are in good mental health, we make better decisions for ourselves and others. When our bodies are functioning in optimal form, self-improvement helps us build on what we have and at minimum helps us to sustain what we have.

Idea #1

Self-improvement speaks to your boldness and courage. It takes boldness to bring yourself to vocalize what you want, and it takes courage to step out and get it done. Sometimes it’s hard to verbalize our desires out of fear of what others will think or say. And after deciding to get in shape, waking up the first day and hitting the gym takes courage.

Idea #2

Self-improvement informs others the extent to which you value yourself and it signals to others how you value them. When a husband makes the effort to improve how he communicates with his wife, he is telling his wife that he values quality communication, and he is also telling his wife that he values quality communication with her.

Quote #1

“Worry about yourself; Your own behavior. Regulating that and trying to be the best person you can be. Instead of focusing on what others are or are not doing for you. You will be a lot happier.” -Efrat Cybulkiewicz

Quote #2

“Work on yourself more than you do on your job.” -Jim Rohn

Quote #3

“When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.” -Paulo Coelho
