Talent

Author: Leading and Love

Talent is something to be reckoned with. If you’ve stepped onto a field, a playing court, sat in a classroom, worked in a studio or performed on a stage, you would have been exposed to and know the value of talent. One, it makes creativity and expression seem effortless. Two, it makes a person an automatic contender with those who dedicate hours upon hours to developing their skills.

However, the best performers will tell you that talent will only get you so far, but they will admit that talent can get you very far. What is the difference between getting very far or so far and going all the way? Spending time improving the things that make your talent seem incomplete. Some talents become apparent at a very young age. These child prodigies often go on to do amazing things. Some fall by the wayside because they failed to close the gaps in their abilities. Some talents are only explored later in life when one is courageous enough to follow where their talent leads.

Idea #1

Talent needs the right environment to be effective. Environment plays a huge role in achieving success. Capitalizing on talent is no exception. You can be in an environment that cripples your talent or you can be in an environment that allows you to fly to your limits. Bad relationships are paralytic. Strong marriages allow each spouse to self-actualize, leading to even stronger marriages.

Idea #2

In the presence of hard work and talent, talent usually shines. Talent makes creativity and expression seem effortless. Imagine two individuals in the gym working on the same skills with the same instruction and intensity. The one that is more talented will seem to progress further and quicker. There is no competition in strong relationships. There's collaboration. That means the strengths of each partner is accessible to both partners. In a marriage, it's ok to allow each other to flourish especially if one spouse is more proficient in a particular area that is valuable to the marriage.

Quote #1

"Find out your talents and gifting and invest your whole time into perfecting them and becoming the best of yourself." - Sunday Adelaja

Quote #2

"Everybody has talent, it's just a matter of moving around until you've discovered what it is." - George Lucas

Quote #3

"Real talent shines through regardless of how many others there are around you." - Paloma Faith

Challenge

Unused talent can still be accessed. The advantage of tapping in early is you get to uncover more if you have the right support. The advantage of tapping in later in life is you can inject life experience (good or bad) into the equation. Take a bold step to putting your talent to use.

Affirmation

I am brave enough to go where my talent(s) take me.
